Coach Phil Leib is 126 - 121 in
eight years at Flora, including
last year's 19 -11 mark. His
best season was in 2004-05,
when the Wolves finished 25 -
10 and making an apperance
in the Elite 8. Phil and his
lovely wife Cindy they have
five children Hannah, Helen,  
Ethan, Ian, & Owen.

Coach Leib:   Flora High School 1982- 1986

FloraSports:  Where did you go to college?
Coach Leib:  2 years at Olney Central College, 2 years at Northern Illinois University, DeKalb, IL

FloraSports:  How long have you been coaching basketball and where?
Coach Leib:  18 years total, stayed on at Northern as a graduate Assistant 1yr., Assistant at
Bradley University Peoria, IL1yr., Henry-Senachwine Junior High 6yrs. and Henry-Senachwine
High School 2yrs., Flora High School 8yrs.

FloraSports:  When not coaching, what do you enjoy doing?  
Coach Leib:  Spending time with my Family and singing in a Southern Gospel Quartet.

FloraSports:  What is your favorite quote/saying?  
Coach Leib:  “The quality of a man’s life is in direct proportion to his commitment to excellence”

FloraSports:  This year’s team won’t be as tall as some of your past teams.  How will you
compensate?
Coach Leib:   We are going to have to spread the floor to create driving opportunities for our
guards.  This will also help kick out passes to our three point shooters and we’ll have to cut and
post without jamming up the offense.  Defensively rely heavily on ball pressure.  

FloraSports:  What will the 2008/2009 Flora Wolves team have to do to be successful?  
Coach Leib:   Our four main goals are to limit opponents offensive rebounds, limit turnovers, get
to the line more than our opponents and shoot the three well.

FloraSports:  Ian Ridge was your leading scorer last year, how will you replace those points?  
Coach Leib:   You don’t, but we are anticipating key players to step up and fill various roles.

FloraSports:  Who are your seniors this year?  
Coach Leib:   Jeremy Wallace, Logan Hertenstein, Jeremy Edwards and Dakota Orel

FloraSports:  Who do you look to provide valuable minutes this year?  
Coach Leib:   The four mentioned above as well as Bryton Krutsinger, Kole Greenwood and
Paul Knapp.

FloraSports:  Who are your assistant coaches?  
Coach Leib:   Dennis Arnold, Junior Varsity coach, Justin Engelman, Sophomore coach ,Louie
Lusk Freshman coach,  and Andy Knapp Volunteer Assistant
